Mission Statement
What We Do:
Formula
Focuses on designing, building, and racing formula-style race cars. Students apply engineering concepts learned in classes to design a car that focuses on vehicle performance through rigorous testing and continuous improvements. Alongside engineering design and manufacturing, the team keeps track of budgeting, sponsorship relationships, and marketing strategies. Our competition features dynamic events testing speed and vehicle handling, as well as static events like design, cost efficiency, and business presentation. Participation provides students with experience, teamwork skills, communication skills, and professional development, preparing them for industry standards.

Baja
Focuses on designing, building, and racing off-road vehicles. Students apply engineering principles and concepts learned in class to design a car with an optimal balance of cost, durability, and safety, while maximizing performance. Students engage in principled mechanical design, predict performance with simulations, gain experience with a variety of manufacturing techniques, conduct testing, and have fun! In addition to engineering, students organize and participate in outreach and volunteer efforts, acquire and manage sponsorships, handle budgeting, and create a business presentation for national competitions. Competitions include rock crawls, obstacle courses, endurance races, as well as static events evaluating design, cost, and presentation. Participation in Baja SAE lays the foundation for practical skills, teamwork, and professionalism, equipping members for careers in engineering, business, and more.
