What We Do:
Formula
Our Formula SAE team focuses on designing, building, and racing a high-performance open-wheel race car. Students apply engineering principles and hands-on skills to develop a vehicle that achieves the ideal balance of speed, reliability, safety, and innovation. Throughout the process, members engage in advanced mechanical and electrical design, utilize simulation tools to predict performance, and gain experience with cutting-edge manufacturing techniques and rigorous testing.
Beyond engineering, the team manages sponsorships, budgeting, branding, and outreach initiatives, while also preparing a comprehensive business and design presentation for national competitions. Each competition includes dynamic events, such as acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and endurance. As well as static events evaluating engineering design, cost analysis, and business strategy.
Participation in Formula SAE provides students with unmatched real-world experience, building practical technical skills, teamwork, communication, and professionalism. Our program equips future engineers, marketers, and business leaders with the tools to excel in motorsports and beyond.
Baja
Focuses on designing, building, and racing off-road vehicles. Students apply engineering principles and concepts learned in class to design a car with an optimal balance of cost, durability, and safety, while maximizing performance. Students engage in principled mechanical design, predict performance with simulations, gain experience with a variety of manufacturing techniques, conduct testing, and have fun! In addition to engineering, students organize and participate in outreach and volunteer efforts, acquire and manage sponsorships, handle budgeting, and create a business presentation for national competitions. Competitions include rock crawls, obstacle courses, endurance races, as well as static events evaluating design, cost, and presentation. Participation in Baja SAE lays the foundation for practical skills, teamwork, and professionalism, equipping members for careers in engineering, business, and more.
